Hi I always get a tear at the base of my vagina whenever I have penetrative sex. I’m not on birth control, I have tried dilators and massage my perineal area every day with oil. I don’t have yeast or bacterial infection. I can’t seem to find any reason for the tear.

My first question is whether you are sufficiently sexually aroused before penetration. Do you and your partner take enough time for your vagina to become wet? Before taking in a penis or dildo, your vagina needs to get larger, wider and wetter, which all happens when you're sexually aroused. I recommend that you read this text. Have you tried using lube? Sometimes, the natural lubrication (wetness) of the vagina isn't enough, even when you're ready and aroused. Using lube can really help here. It prevents rubbing and tearing because it reduces friction and makes everything glide more easily.

My second question: You mention that you've tried dilators. How come? Do you experience vaginismus, meaning your vagina generally seems too tight to insert things? Does it hurt when you insert fingers, a dildo, or a penis?
