I’ve been having trouble maintaining an erection during oral sex, especially when I’m lying on my back. It feels awkward to move my hips while my partner is kneeling over me, which makes it harder to stay engaged.

However, I don’t seem to have the same issue when I’m the one kneeling and thrusting while my partner lies on her back.

This wasn’t a problem for me in the past, and I really want to get back to enjoying oral sex while letting my partner take the lead.

I feel like there’s a mental block—almost like stage fright—that’s getting in the way.

It is normal for sexuality to change over time.

This also means that many men, as they get older, no longer get erections as easily or spontaneously as when they were younger. So that might be part of what's going on here.

It might also be about the amount of influence and control that you have over your own arousal. If you simply lie on your back and don't move at all, it's normal for your erection to become weaker or disappear. If you don't actively participate in sex by moving yourself/your pelvis, you can't control your arousal properly and what you're describing is a normal consequence, which has nothing to do with a mental block, but is pure physiology. Although the psychological aspect can of course come in, especially if you feel anxious about this physical reaction. Try to view it with curiosity instead and experiment with movement.
